We are faced with a lot of challenges every day that tends to sap the life out of us. From going to work or dealing with the chores or even eating a meal they all have an effect on our mind and body which can affect our overall health of mind and body.

There are ways to rid the body of the negative vibes that takes a toll on the health of our mind and body. With mindfulness and meditation, we can easily deal with our problems and take control of our lives every step of the way.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness meditation involves focusing our awareness on the present. It is a mental practice that is focused on the present instead of analyzing the past or practicing the future. Simple procedures such as listening to a therapeutic music, counting your breaths, visualizing or using your imagination are all examples of mindfulness. Mindfulness is great practice to help deal with issues in the present.

Meditation

Meditation differs from mindfulness in the sense that it doesn’t just focus on getting rid of your pressure in the present but it also deals with issues in the past. Meditation is more like a mantra (Sanskrit- ‘man’ means mind and ‘tra’ mean vehicle) which is to say that meditation is the vehicle that moves the mind. Zen, yoga, Vipassana, and Kundalini are all forms of meditation.

Benefits of Mindfulness and Meditation on the Mind and body.

Both mindfulness and meditation help the body in quite a number of ways. The main function of meditation to get rid of old stresses that are present in our genetic and cellular memory. The benefits include:

  1. It helps us sleep better

A lot of us suffer from insomnia (lack of enough sleep or not getting sleep at all) at least few nights in a week. With the aid of meditation and mindfulness, you can easily get rid of the stress that has built up in your body and is preventing you from resting when you actually need to.

 

  1. Improved Sex Life

When you are not dealing with stress you will see an upward improvement in every aspect of your life including sex. Meditation can help reduce stress in the body which in turn deepens arousal and orgasm in both women and men.

 

  1. Increase Productivity

When you are battling with stress your mental capacity reduces and it becomes difficult to be productive or to perform at optimum capacity. With the aid of mindfulness and meditation, you can easily get yourself out of the slow-paced mode and into a full force capacity.

 

  1. Reduced Anxiety

A lot of men and women (especially) depend on an antidepressant to deal with stress and anxiety. With the help of meditation, you can get your brain fired with serotonin and dopamine which is the active ingredient in antidepressants which will save you money and the occasional side effects that comes with constant drug use.

 

  1. Increase Immune Function

Meditation helps reduce your chances of falling sick. It is also a good remedy to heal faster from illness and injuries.

 

  1. Reduced Migraines

Meditation is a good way to relieve the frequency, duration, and intensity of migraines. Recent studies show that meditation can help reduce migraines and reduce their occurrence up to 1.4 times.

 

  1. Reduced anger

People who meditate have been known to be slow to anger compared to people who don’t, so it is safe to say that meditation reduces your chances of flaring up over trivial issues.

 

Meditation helps increase patience, empathy, and compassion which means more friends and a happier you.
